Emily
This little boy is so darn sweet! He is known as Tripp, Mark, Markie Mark, Bubba, Buddy and when he is dressed in his fancy clothes I call him Sir Mark Christopher Beyer the Third (in a British accent). He is the sensitive one. He just wants to be held all the time, so we are trying to teach him to sleep in his bouncer or on a blanket with the girls during the day instead of only wanting to sleep in our arms. He fights his sleep and will just whine until you pick him up, then he goes to sleep. When he starts to whine, I pick him up and hold him for about 10 minutes, then put him back down. He is getting a lot better about sleeping in the bouncer or on the blanket on the floor, but we still have to hold him to get him to go to sleep. It gets better everyday! He rolled from his stomach to his back about 3 weeks ago but hasn't done it since. He is getting really chubby and has the thickest little legs! He now weighs 14.5 pounds. He is very happy in the mornings and smiles with his mouth wide open once he wakes up!
We call her Emmy or Toots. Mark and I have decided that Emily is the sweet one. She still has her gas pains, but when she isn't having those pains, she is such a happy, sweet little girl. You can talk to her and she coos back at you, and she smiles back at you when you smile at her. If she sees you walking, she will watch you walk across the room. I realized that since she'd been on Nutramigen (her special formula), she was still having some gas pains and she was spitting up a lot. The pediatrician said that we should start her on soy formula. We started that on Monday and she seems to enjoy it so far. Her burps don't smell horrible anymore and hopefully in the next few days her gas problems will get better. It gets really sad when she starts screaming in pain. There have been multiple times that I've held her on the sofa and cried with her because she is screaming so loud and there's nothing I can do to help her. It's such a helpless feeling. I just really hope I don't have to cry with her in the future with this new soy formula! She also rolled over from her tummy to her back on Monday. It was very exciting!
I think she's starting to look more like my mom's side of the family.
We call her Ellie. She is the funny one. All of the babies make us laugh, but Ella is the funniest. Her little faces are just hilarious. There are times when I look at her and she's staring at me with one eyebrow raised. I would really love to know what she's thinking. A friend of ours came over to meet the babies and I was telling her about Ella and she compared Ella to Stewie from Family Guy. It made sense! One day last week she was in a swing sleeping and started to whine. I walked over to the swing, but as soon as I was standing in front of her she stopped whining, smiled, and opened one eye and stared at me. I felt like she was thinking, "Haha gotcha to come over here." She went back to sleep and I walked away. She does stuff like that all day long and I just laugh. She has been breast feeding lately which is really exciting! About 3 weeks ago she decided to latch on. She latched on a few times in the hospital but I tried once we got home and it never happened so I gave up and just kept pumping. I was so excited when she finally latched on at home so now I try to breast feed her at least once a day. She went from drinking 4 ounces at each feeding to drink about 3 ounces at each feeding but she is getting better and finishing a few of her bottles a day. Other than that, she is still a happy, funny baby!
We still can't really tell who she looks like, but we see a little of my family in her and a little of Mark's dad's family in her.
I was trying to prepare their bottles and Ella wouldn't let me out her down in a bouncer, so I took her into the kitchen with me and put her down on the drying mat (and stood right in front of her the whole time of course) while I made the bottles. She seemed to like it!
Tripp
We have no clue who he looks like. I think he looks like a cartoon baby because he has huge eyes and a tiny mouth. His face changes weekly so I'm sure in a few months we will be able to tell who he looks like.
This was Mark's 30 years ago. My mother in law brought over some of Mark's old outfits and I put them in a drawer and forgot about them. When I finally remembered, it barely fit him! I think it was supposed to be pants, but it was capris on him!
We had some pictures taken with both of our families. Here are some of them
We took this picture for our Christmas card. We were trying to recreate a picture of these triplets wearing the same onesies. It was a disaster! The other triplets were wide awake and smiling. That rarely happens with my babies, so this was the best we got!
Here are some pictures that I took while trying to get a good picture!
We were trying to calm Emily down, but these two were pretty cute!
And then we drove to Bellville to go to Nana's birthday party. They didn't like the long drive!
Our niece Ainsley really likes the girls but doesn't have much interest in Tripp because he's a boy, so I put a headband on him and sent the picture to my mother in law and sister in law to show Ainsley to make her think he was one of the girls. He hated it.
These 2 woke up before Emily, so we put them in their Bumbos and played. Although their faces don't show it, they enjoyed it.
