2 months old

The triplets turned 2 months old on November 23.  I feel like it has been way more than 2 months since we were speeding to the medical center in a panic the morning they were born.  I feel like they've been a part of our lives forever.

Emily

Emily weighs 11 pounds.  (This isn't exact because we don't go back to the doctor until January, so I'm weighing them on my bathroom scale, but it seems about right).  Emily is still kind of fussy but she has gotten a lot better!  She is still on her special formula and wearing cloth diapers, but it seems to be working.  We tried to give her a bottle of breast milk last week to see if her tummy matured in the month that she has been on Nutramigen, but she was not happy after that bottle.  She drank it so fast, so she liked the milk, but her tummy did not like it.  On Monday I gave her 1 ounce of breast milk to see if she could handle just a small amount and she did fine with it, so I will probably do that for awhile.  A couple of weeks ago I started freezing some breast milk for her for when she can finally have it.  I felt bad that the other 2 are getting 3 or 4 bottles of breast milk everyday so I wanted to save some for Emily.  Hopefully she will be able to have it soon and get off of that nasty stuff.  It smells so bad and we hear that it tastes pretty bad, too.  When she isn't crying because her diaper is dirty, she is a very good baby.  She is very alert and just stares you in the face like she's extremely interested in what you're saying to her.  People have been telling me she looks like me.  I think she has my eyes, but I don't really see any of my other features in her face.  She does look a lot like my baby pictures.  She's cute, so I don't mind that people say she looks like me!  Her new thing is that she laughs in her sleep.  She'll just be laying there and then smile really big and start laughing really loud!  Here are some pictures of Emily.

We tried to teach her how to stuff her own cloth diapers.  She was not happy about it.

This is her passed out on my bed.  Sometimes she just won't go to sleep during the day so I lay her on my bed and she goes right to sleep.

Ella

Ella weighs 12 pounds now and is still the same happy baby!  She gets fussy sometimes because she has been constipated, but I lay her on her stomach and she usually calms down.  She makes her same funny faces and makes us laugh all the time!  My Grandma Judy came to visit today and said that Ella does my same "upside down" smile that I had when I was younger.  I call it Ella's "uninterested" face, so I guess I wasn't very interested in anything when I was a kid!  Ella is very patient for the most part.  I think if we left her alone, she would go way more than 3 hours before feedings during the day.  Unfortunately, when we feed one we have to feed all of them to keep them on the same schedule.  She hasn't been finishing all of her bottles because I think she just isn't hungry every 3 hours like Tripp is.  I'm pretty sure she would sleep a lot longer at night if we let her, too, but we have to wake her up to feed her whenever we feed the other 2.  She is such a good little baby and so pleasant most of the time!  Here are some pictures of her.

This is her laying next to Emily.  She was supposed to be napping but she woke up so I put on some songs from The Little Mermaid and Cinderella and she loved it!  She just laid there and smiled!

Anytime there's an elephant, we say it's Ella's.  This is an elephant we found in the toy bin so we decided it could be the brother of Ellie the elephant on her receiving blanket.

Her neck is getting a lot stronger.  She can stare at me sitting in front of her when she's on her tummy on the Boppy.  A couple of weeks ago she was not holding her head up this well!

Laying in her stomach again smiling while she slept.

Gazing off into the distance.

Tripp

Tripp weighs 13 pounds now.  I don't know that that's accurate since it was on the bathroom scale.  I think he weighs way more than Ella, not just a pound more, but who knows!  The weight difference is very obvious when you hold him and then pick up one of the girls.  He is so much heavier!  He is just such a big boy. He is already outgrowing his 3 month clothes and his head doesn't fit in 3 month hats.  He gets his big head from my family!  I don't think he realizes that he was 5 1/2 weeks premature AND a triplet and he shouldn't be this big!  I'm not complaining that he's big, it just blows my mind that he got so big so quickly.  We are about to have to go up a size in diapers for him, and I'm not excited about having him in a different size than the girls.  That just seems confusing!  We will do what we have to do, but for now he is still in size 1 and I'm trying to keep using those on him as long as I can!  He is such a cute little boy.  He has big round eyes that are a gorgeous dark blue color and just a cute little face.  He loves being held and usually starts to fuss if he's awake and not being held.  If you're holding him, he's happy and will usually smile and just look around.  He eats 4 ounces of milk way faster than the girls and sometimes he's still hungry after he's done so we give him an extra ounce.  He is always the first one to wake up to eat.  During the day we don't even have to watch the clock, he lets us know when it's been 3 hours and he's hungry again!  Occasionally he gets fussy and just stares off in the distance like he has such a hard life!  Here are some pictures of him.

This is how he sleeps

Looking like a tiny man! (If men had pacifiers in their mouths 24/7)

Tripp is Edward's favorite.  He is usually sitting by whichever bouncer or swing Tripp is in.  The other day Tripp was whining because Edward was trying to lick his foot.

I took that picture and then said "Boys!"  They both stopped and looked at me like this...  It was so funny!

And of course, some cute pictures of all of them!

Tripp likes to hold onto your finger.  I say he likes to "hold hands."  The other day I was holding him and Ella at the same time and looked down and saw this.  I guess he was looking for a hand, but instead found Ella's foot so just held onto it while he slept.  It was adorable!

All 5 of us on my birthday!

My mom and I took the babies for a walk one morning.  It was very nice to get out of the house!

Emily and Tripp got really fussy so I swaddled them and put them on their sides to calm them down.  Afterward, I looked down at them and it reminded me of some kind of baby time out where you put your babies in straight jackets.  The swaddling does calm them, but they just look so restricted!

I put all 3 babies down for a nap in a crib.  They slept like this for about an hour.  It was so sweet!

Most days they just nap on the living room floor

The other night we let them come into our room before bed time.  They loved laying there and looking around.

Tummy time on boppys.  Tripp hates tummy time.
