10 months

In just 2 short months our little bitty babies will be one year old!  On July 23 we celebrated 10 months with these little ones and wow, have they gone by quickly!  All 3 are crawling, pulling up, holding their own bottles and developing the cutest personalities!  Group pictures with their monthly stickers didn't go too well, but we got this one:

Emily

Emily is so funny and so competitive (if that's even possible with a 10 month old).  She started crawling when she saw Ella crawling.  Once she was crawling, she noticed Tripp pulling up on the window sill and just had to pull up, too.  She required lots of help and fell a few times, but she finally did it and stood there at the window smiling at Tripp like she was the coolest thing ever!  Emily claps and claps and claps and says "Mama" and then screams all in the same minute.  She is a busy little girl who loves to laugh and play with her brother and sister.  The 2 times she's been in a swimming pool she splashes and splashes until there is water all over her face (and the faces of any innocent bystanders), then she stops to wipe her face, then splashes more!  Emily waved "hi" for the first time to a random stranger at the hospital (more on her hospital visit later).  She is stubborn just like her mama and loves to cuddle and laugh and be tickled.  Emily has 3 teeth.  2 on the bottom and 1 on top.

Just walking around the house with the (clean) diaper pail liner!

We have been working on sippy cups. This is how it's going so far...

One of the first times she pulled up!

This picture makes me laugh so hard!  She's sitting between her brother and sister having a snack.  Tripp reached over and grabbed her snack right out of her hand.  She stared at him for a second, then turned around, grabbed Ella's snack out of her hand, then sat like this and ate it while she stared at me like, "what?"

She loves to stare out the front windows

One morning I put them in their walkers and then snuck into the bathroom for a minute.  I thought they were doing their own thing until I heard a giggle, looked up, and saw Emily smiling at me.  She found me!

Hanging out at the park

This was a few days before we had to gate off that changing table :)

Selfies with Daddy

No respect for Mama

She got stuck in this tunnel.  All she had to do was crawl 2 feet to get out, but instead, in typical Emily fashion, she chose the most dramatic way to handle this, and panicked.

She pulled up on her crib and figured out where the camera was!

Then she figured out where Ella was and tried to wake her up to play.  Sadly, for her, nothing wakes Ella up, including her sister staring at her and yelling.

Emily trying to be Wilson from Home Improvement.  "Howdy Ho neighbor."  In reality, she was eying my coffee and wanted me to share.

Sometimes Emily is left handed...

...And sometimes she's right handed.  We aren't sure yet!

Emily likes to pull up on things and then lick them.  She does with the refrigerator, the bathtub, the doors, and here, the brick wall in our kitchen.

Ella

Ella is the baby who pretty much does what she wants.  She doesn't care what her brother and sister are doing, she does what she wants to do!  She was the first one to wave bye bye and would go around the house all day waving (now she says "ba ba ba ba" while she waves).  After that she learned to clap and now does one of those things all day long.  Ella does yoga.  Her favorite (only) position is downward facing dog.  She does this constantly.  It's very funny!  For awhile Ella would not feed herself puffs.  I kept thinking she just wasn't that coordinated yet and needed help so I would feed them to her.  Then I caught her eating cat food one day.  Cat food is way smaller than puffs and she put that in her mouth just fine!  After that, I did not feed her puffs anymore.  She quickly caught on and started to feed herself.  She has also eaten dog food.  I don't let her eat these things, but she's very quick and sometimes I lose track of her for a minute or 2.  Ella just recently started pulling up and now pulls up on everything!  She also does this thing where it sounds like she's singing.  It's always when she's waving.  She waves and sings.  It's precious!  Ella doesn't love bath time as much as the others but she LOVES getting out of the bathtub!  Her biggest smile is when she's getting out of the tub.  It's so funny!  She also likes to be chased.  She will make a squealing noise if you're on the ground and then crawl away from you as fast as possible.  After a few feet she stops and lets you tickle her.  It's very fun!  Ella has 2 teeth on the bottom.

Ella can entertain herself in the pack n play for 30 minutes.  She loves playing alone!

At the park

Ella is not afraid to venture outside.  When I go places alone I leave the garage door open so I can see whoever is still inside while loading a baby in the car.  I have to come up with a new solution now since Ella crawls outside to meet me (once, she made a pit stop to taste the cat's food) and Emily follows her!

She thought it was hilarious to put her hand in her mouth and then rub her spitty hand on my face!

This snack is called a Wagon Wheel.  As the babies eat them I sing "Rock me Mama like a wagon wheel" and Ella claps and laughs, while eating her snack :)

She FINALLY holds her own bottle!

She ate all of her puffs like this one day. She had a higher success rate than when she uses her hand.  She didn't drop any for the dogs this way!

Her first time pulling up was to look out the front window.  She didn't want to get down

Ella's new favorite snack is ranch crunchies.  She steals them from her brother and sister and hoards them all for herself!

One morning, for no reason at all, Ella cried, threw herself on the floor, put her finger in her nose and started giggling.  After a few seconds she rolled over with a huge smile on her face

Tripp

Tripp is the most precious little boy I've ever met!  He is so happy and loves his mama so much :)  He is tall and skinny and so cute!  Tripp has 8 teeth!  He has 4 on the bottom and 4 on the top, although the way he smiles, you never see his top ones.  They're there, though!  And they're sharp!  For the longest time I would clap and wave trying to get them to copy me.  Tripp would crawl away as soon as I started so I assumed he wasn't interested.  One day out of the blue he started clapping!  His little eyebrows go in together like he's concentrating really hard and he stares at his hands as he slowly claps them together.  He claps at random times.  It's obvious that he has no clue what clapping means, but he is starting to do it when I say "yay" so I think he's figuring it out slowly!  Tripp has giant hands that I don't think are proportionate to his body.  This was a conversation that Mark and I had about Tripp's hands:

Me: Tripp's hands are really big
Mark: that just means he's going to be tall
Me: what?
Mark: they grow into their hands
Me: that's dogs
Mark: and babies
Me: no.  I don't think it's the same
Mark: he'll grow into them.  He's going to be tall.  Don't worry.

So I guess he will grow into his paws :)  We will see!  Tripp says "mama" and that's it!  He loves to touch people's faces and talk very quietly.  He is very pensive.  He loves to examine things and turn them over to see what's on the bottom.  He pulls up on everything and has recently started to let go for a few seconds and stands there!  Tripp has recently become a very hungry boy.  He just wants to eat and eat all day long.  I've started to feed him more and he's doing a lot better now!  He is a happy, funny little boy!

There was a very big storm and Tripp was concerned.  He watched the radar for at least 5 minutes.

He loves the seat belts on their seats at the table.  He realized that if I left a chair pulled out, he could go under the table in his walker to play with the seat belts.

He was so happy, I had to take this picture!

Trying to read his favorite book, Brown Bear.

Eating a snack

Leaning on Emily after a walk

Playing with Ty

We got rid of the play pen because he would pull up on it and it looked like it would break.  His time in the play pen was spent like this.  Staring at me trying to get me to let him out!

At the park

Chasing Pawpaw

Chewing on toys with his friend Jim (or Hudson.  They're identical and I can't tell from this picture).

New favorite toy: the bathroom scale

With his Pawpaw and Daddy.  All named Mark Christopher Beyer :)

He's kind of messy, so I've started giving him snacks either naked or with a bib!

Playing with Mimi's iPad.

Tripp and Daddy selfie

He's tall and very skinny, so his pants don't stay on his waist.  They are very saggy when he wakes up!

He got stuck

He saw this picture of Mark and me at our wedding and LOVES it.  He just stares at it!

One morning he kept kissing it!

When this boy is upset, the remote calms him down pretty quickly!

Pressing buttons

Happy boy!

They all love this rattle!  You can see little hands on his leg making their way to steal it from him!

His eyes :)

I have no idea how he got under here...

Our first stomach virus

This month we experienced our first stomach virus with the babies, and we survived it (barely)!  It started with Emily.  She had quite a few dirty diapers and was vomiting.  The next day Mark was working from home so we decided to keep Emily away from Ella and Tripp.  Mark decided that we should split them up for the day to limit their exposure, so one of us would be in charge of Ella and Tripp, the well babies and change their diapers and feed them, and the other person was in charge of Emily's diapers, feedings and well being that day.  He thought I should be in charge of Emily.  Coincidentally, Ella and Tripp were both wearing yellow and Mark had yellow on his shirt, so he labeled them The Yellow Team.  Emily and I were both wearing pink shirts, so we were the pink team.  The yellow team got to play on the magic carpet (a comforter on the floor with lots of pillows) in our bedroom and the pink team had to stay out of there.  It was no fun for us, but lots of fun for the yellow team!

Here's the yellow team having lots of fun

That night we knew Emily was bad when she refused to go to sleep, threw up, and then insisted on holding my mom's hand as they cuddled.  I called the after hours doctor and we realized we didn't know the last time she had urinated.  She had lots of dirty diapers but we didn't know if there was any urine output with them.  We gave her 5 cc of pedialyte every 5 minutes or so to try to rehydrate her until she fell asleep.

That night she was set up in a pack n play next to our bed but would only sleep in our arms laying on the bed.  She woke up every hour or so and we gave her some pedialyte.  She never urinated.  She woke up around 4 am and since there was still no urine in her diaper, I decided I was taking her to Texas Children's Hospital.  The after hours nurse said we should have her seen since we didn't know if she had any urine output and I thought it was time to take her in.  Mark's parents came to stay with Ella and Tripp while Mark and I took Emily to TCH.  Mark and Emily had fun playing with the vomit bags.

She got her first ultrasound!  They wanted to make sure her intestines weren't folding into each other since she seemed to be having really bad stomach pain.  She wasn't crying like this the whole time, just for the picture, but Mark did have to hold her down while we sang to her.  I'm thinking it wasn't too unusual for the woman performing the ultrasound.  She didn't seem to be phased by our singing.

They gave her some Zofran and she finally got some formula!  She drank it incredibly fast so we gave her more.  Then we came home.  She wasn't dehydrated.  Mark told me that was my "first time parent overreacting hospital visit."  Apparently I only get 1 of those!  Of course by the time we got home, the other 2 had the virus!

Tripp and Emily were both fussy so they were fighting over who got to stand in this window and wait for Daddy to get home with their Zofran.

Neither of them won that battle.  I made them both get down.  We sat down and waited for daddy.  Tripp clapped, Ella smiled and Emily cried.

Once Emily started to feel better, Tripp got really bad!  He did not handle the illness very well.  He was a very sad boy :(

Emily

Tripp after he vomited.  He threw up on me and after I took his shirt off he would scream his lungs out if I tried to put him down, so I couldn't change my shirt.  This is me wearing my shirt with vomit, holding my boy who was totally miserable.

Then there was Ella.  Although she had very bad diarrhea and vomiting (we changed her to Emily's soy formula), she did not care.  She was happy!  This was one day when Emily and Tripp were sleeping during their 3 o'clock feeding (feedings and naps were TOTALLY off) so Ella was the only one up and she was ready to eat!

Emily continued to be fussy, so we had to entertain these 2.  Luckily we bought lots of disposable diapers to put on them while they had this virus so they played with the diaper boxes!

And that was our experience with a stomach virus!  It was horrible.  Not a lot of sleep, disposable diapers, pedialyte, rice cereal, different nap and feeding schedules, 3 babies on soy formula and SO much poop, vomit and crying.  There was one morning that we woke up and they all had poop smeared on their sheets and they had all rolled in it.  It was so bad!  We put them straight into the bathtub.  As we were bathing them we talked about what we would do with that room since it smelt so bad.  Mark was convinced the smell was in the paint on the walls.  He mentioned boarding off the whole room and forgetting about it.  I wanted to just buy a new house and start over.  It was not a good week for us!  Luckily my mom came over and cleaned EVERYTHING, so we didn't have to board up the room or buy a new house (maybe next time).  It lasted a week and we are so glad it's over!!!

Independent Play

I've been trying this independent play thing to get the babies accustomed to playing alone and entertaining themselves.  I put them in separate areas with a toy and leave them alone.  If they see me they cry, so I have to hide, while still peeking around corners to check on them.  Ella loves it, Emily hates it, and Tripp does ok.

Sippy Cups

The struggle with sippy cups is a bad one!  Our pediatrician recommended straw cups, but Emily, Ella and Tripp think the straws are teething toys.  We went back to regular sippy cups and I let them try everyday.  I try to help them tilt the cup up, but they aren't quite getting it.  I haven't given up yet!  Here are pictures of them with their straw cups!

Visit to Wharton to visit Grandma and Grandpa

We took the babies to Wharton, TX to visit my Grandma and Grandpa.  They met them once when the babies were about 2 months old, but haven't seen them since then.  The babies had lots of fun!  Tripp found this porcelain cat and insisted on petting it, although in this picture he seems to be gouging it's eyes out.

Grandma brought out the toys that my cousins and I played with as kids.  Ella is playing with a boat that I remember playing with at grandma's lake house!

They have a little park behind their house that we went to.  Ella went on the swings with Grandma

Emily loved this wooden clown

Group pictures

Emily thinks that if someone is sitting next to her, they should be holding her hand.  Her brother and sister do not feel the same way.  This is how meal times usually go with Emily and whoever is sitting next to her.

All 3 babies crawling to Mark!

My mom (Mimi) with Ella, Tripp and Emily

My mom with just the girls, Ella, Gwen and Emily.  I'm not sure why Ella is looking at Gwen like that. She loves Gwen!

The dogs enjoy snack time more than the babies do

One of their new favorite toys is Tupperware!

Pappy was getting something out of this closet and they cornered him in!

The girls playing with Ty.  Emily might be checking his pulse... Who knows

The pictures on the left are both my baby pictures.  Although Emily and Ella look completely different, they both look like me as a baby!  (Emily is on top right, Ella on bottom right)

Fun at the park!

I can't eat breakfast without them staring at me like this.  I can't complain, though.  There was a time when I couldn't even eat breakfast without someone crying, so I can deal with this :)

Usually once a day or so, they all play quietly together.  If they see me, they cry, so I have to stay out of view.

Emily and Tripp staring out the window

They love their daddy!

I was lowering their crib mattresses and had way too many little helpers.  It was during the stomach virus so I let them crawl all over me.  They were very clingy that week!

Watching daddy make breakfast

Baby Bobcats

Their Nonna bought them a tunnel.  They love it!

They loved playing with bowls and spatulas!

Tripp has been pulling up on his crib for awhile, but Emily just started.  When we put them in their beds at night they stand up, hold hands, and talk to each other.  It is adorable!!!

They love the cat, Misha, but she does not like them.  She usually hisses at them when they touch her. They got so excited that Mark was holding her down and they got to see her!

Eating snacks with hats on because I forgot to take them off.  They didn't seem to mind

This was a few days before Ella started pulling up.

Snack time!  (for babies and mama)

Tripp likes to stand with this push toy.  Ella likes to play with the front of it!

Everyone playing with an activity table

My mother in law met me at Kroger with my niece and nephew.  It was the easiest shopping trip with 3 babies!

Holding our bottles!

Photo shoot

Mark convinced me that he could do their first birthday photos.  I needed them done for their birthday invitation.  While we were taking the themed pictures for the invites, we took some normal ones, too.  I am not sharing the themed pictures until I send out the invites, but here are some cute ones that we got!

And then there's this funny old man :)
