Emily, Ella and Tripp are 7 months old! I know I say it every month, but oh my goodness they are getting so big! They are all rolling over now and trying so hard to move around. They can all sit up but we have to be behind them because they do still fall sometimes. Their personalities are really changing and they are just so cute! It's getting easier to take care of them on my own, which is very fun! Mark and I are enjoying every minute with them and love watching them grow and discover new things.
Emily
Emily is such a happy, funny baby! She has 2 teeth on the bottom that are very noticeable when she smiles her big cheeky smile! She said "mama" on April 21 :) She has five 6 ounce bottles and eats a total of 5 ounces of solids a day. She is starting to be the best napper and is sleeping through the night again. Yay! She starts moving around and making noise between 6:30 and 7 every morning and is usually awake by 7:15 am. She is also starting to go to sleep on her own in her crib! Not every time, we still have to bounce her sometimes, but she is getting too big for the bouncer so I've started putting her in her crib awake. She fusses a little but then goes to sleep most of the time. She is a back crawler. She started rolling over 2 days before she turned 7 months but is not a pro at it yet. She gets where she wants to be by scooting on her back. Hopefully she stops that soon and rolls over and crawls like most babies! Emily loves to laugh. The excitement on her face when she is tickled is so adorable! She loves to swing and gets so excited when you say "wheeee" while she swings. Emily also loves banging toys. Before we feed them dinner we sit them in their table with lots of toys in front of them. She grabs a hard toy and bangs it on the table over and over again. It's like she is trying to see how much noise she can make. Spoiler alert: she can make a LOT of noise! She also LOVES attention!
I put this rag on her head to try to play peek a boo but she continued to play with her toys like nothing was weird. She played for about 10 minutes until I took the rag off of her head.
Emily is a back crawler. She moves anywhere she needs to go on her back. I was in the kitchen and heard her fussing so walked into the living room and saw her like this. She was stuck and needed my help to get out!
We went to Mark's cousin's wife's baby shower. I was planning on bringing both girls but Ella was very congested so I just took Emily. Ella and Tripp stayed home with Mark and his dad. Poor Ella was outnumbered by Marks :). Emily loved it and I loved experiencing a car ride and outting with 1 baby. It was very different! The whole time we were gone I felt like I was forgetting something!
This is Emily hanging upside down on my mother in law's lap. Emily loved this!
When I need to go somewhere on the weekends I usually take the baby who is the fussiest. That usually seems to be Emily. We went to Kroger one day and I had this brilliant plan that I would put her whole car seat in the basket part of the shopping cart. I've read horror stories about putting car seats propped on top of the seat part of the cart, so my plan was to just put the groceries around her car seat in the basket. Unfortunately, car seats don't fit in the basket of the carts at Kroger so I had no other option, I had to buckle her in to the seat part. I cringed the whole time I was bucking this old worn out seat belt and every time she held onto the side of the cart and then put her hand in her mouth. I got over it pretty quickly once I realized how much she loved it. She got to sit right in front of me and talk to me the whole time, but was also able to look at every stranger we passed and smile at them. So many people stopped to tell me how cute she was and to tell her hello. She loved it!
Then we went to Joann's and the same thing happened! She got kind of fussy while waiting in line so I put some bunny ears on her that I found in a bin and she calmed down.
Emily loves my wedding ring!
Her faces crack me up!
I've been trying not to swaddle her because she's getting so big but she won't sleep unless it's at least wrapped around her body. One day she completely kicked her legs out while waiting for me to get her out of her crib. She thought it was so funny!
Emily loves water bottles
Her 2 teeth!
Emily decided to start rolling over 2 days before she turned 7 months old. She's been trying so hard for weeks and finally did it! I rolled her onto her back again and she rolled right back onto her tummy and then started laughing. She is a funny girl!
Ella
Ella is still the tiny baby but is getting bigger around. She is short and chubby and so adorable! She has the thickest baby thighs I've ever seen and these tiny little feet and toes! Ella said "mama" on Easter, April 20. She was the first baby to say a word and I'm honored that it was mama! Mark and I were discussing how even though our kids were all born within 2 minutes of each other they still have the classic traits of oldest, middle and youngest child. Ella is definitely the middle child! She is very laid back and does not require a lot of attention. She's very patient and likes to play by herself. She has five 6 ounce bottles and a total of 5 ounces of solids everyday. Ella does not have any teeth yet but she does have the most hair! It's getting thicker and harder to put into an "Ellahawk" as Mark calls it. She rolls over and is starting to wiggle around more and more. She has giant dimples that make me smile whenever I see them! She doesn't really like strangers and loves to be held by Mark and me. She is definitely a mama's girl :)
Ella is a very laid back baby
Playing with Gwen.
Now that Ella has so much hair she has lots of days when it is just out of control!
Ella started rolling over at the beginning of April. She was about 6 1/2 months old. She loves to roll!
Rolling!
I am taking Ella to an ophthalmologist on April 25. Her right pupil doesn't dilate (we first noticed this while she was in the NICU) and recently she has been staring at her hand a lot as if she's just discovering it. She discovered it months ago! Her depth perception is also a little off on her right side so we will get it checked out. Hopefully it's nothing, but I need the reassurance of a doctor telling me she's ok!
Still rolling!
Cuddling with her Pawpaw Mark
This was one day when I left with Emily. Mark was letting her take selfies... Or she was reaching for the phone while he took a picture and it just looks like a selfie. Who knows :)
Ella loves her bathing suit
Tripp
Tripp is now long and skinny! He moves all over the place and is really thinning out. He rolls as soon as you put him on his back and pushes up so that his arms are totally straight. Occasionally he pushes up on his knees, too, but that's something new that he's still working on. He can turn in a complete circle once he is on his tummy and can scoot himself backwards. He still only has his 2 teeth but they are really showing! He has five 6 ounce bottles and 5 ounces of solid food a day. I recently switched him back to Similac Advance since he wasn't spitting up anymore. He's doing fine on it and isn't as constipated as he was on soy. He still loves when I sing to him and smiles so big! He loves to be tickled and loves to laugh. He flirts with women when we go to stores. When strangers look at him he gives them a shy smile and women love it! He is Mark's little "chick magnet," which is not cool, but I do have to admit they are both good looking boys!
Hanging out in his cowboy hat
Watching Jake and the Neverland Pirates
This was one day when he refused to nap. He was tired and couldn't stop yawning, but for some reason just didn't want to sleep. He played in his crib.
Once he started making noise and disturbing the girls I moved him into the spare bedroom and he played for a little while before he finally fell asleep.
He likes to have a rag in his mouth. He doesn't even have to hold it, just have it hanging there, and he goes about his business.
I don't know how his hat turns sideways in the stroller. I put it on straight and by the time we get home it's like this!
Sitting up!
Hanging out with Daddy
Just a baby dressed as a bunny hanging out with a dog. No big deal.
He loves to hang out on our bed. I don't know why. He won't go to sleep in our bed (I've tried when he wakes up too early but he hits me in the face until I wake up with him) but he loves to just sit there.
Tripp's bathing suit
He wants to crawl so badly!
I was folding baby laundry and there was a pair of navy blue pants so I put them in Tripp's drawer. After I put them on him a few days later I realized they were girl's leggings. Mark didn't think it was funny! It's hard when there are boy clothes and girls clothes that are the same size. Sometimes I just don't know!
Solid food
I'm still making all of their food and even though it's time consuming, I love doing it and we are saving so much money! So far I've given them:
Sweet potatoes
Carrots
Peas
Green beans
Avocado
Banana
Apple
Pear
Kale
Broccoli
Chicken
Yogurt
I was nervous about adding chicken but they like it. I can't put too much in their food since it's so dry so it's usually mostly a veggie with a little bit of chicken added. They LOVE yogurt! I think that's probably their favorite. We just started giving it to them but I'm going to start putting it in meals every day.
The babies and me 3 days before they turned 7 months old (Easter)
A few days after the babies turned 6 months old my parents joined the babies and me for a walk around the park. I walk the babies around this park all the time, but my mom convinced me to stop and let them swing in the baby swings. Tripp and Emily loved it, Ella not so much. We left after an older little boy, maybe 5 years old, ran right into Emily's swing and she started screaming.
Ella loved the swing as much as she loved sitting on this little animal. She doesn't seem to love being outside but she doesn't fuss or cry, she's just very quiet and has this look on her face. She's kind of like me when it comes to being outside :)
Tripp and Emily watching Ella nap. They can sit there and watch each other on the monitor until the screen goes black. It's very cute!
Emily and Tripp
We gave the babies kale for the first time. It was the messiest food we've ever given them!
Ella
Tripp
My sister in law's best friend has B/G twins a year older than my babies. She gave us their walkers and the babies love them! Plus, they look so cool!
I took the babies to Target and didn't want to have to leave 2 of them in car seats in the stroller so I remembered something I'd read: Bumbos in strollers! If the babies aren't wearing cloth diapers their butts can still fit into the Bumbos so I put disposables diapers on them and we went to Target! Tripp and Ella loved being upright and able to look around and see people. We swung by the toy section to get them some stuff to play with and we shopped for awhile. I was wearing Emily, which she always enjoys. She saw a Minnie Mouse doll and lost her mind she was so excited. It was an Easter Minnie on clearance so I let her have it and got Ella and Tripp each one (Tripp got Mickey). Emily held that Minnie the whole time and talked to her. Instead of getting stares for having so many babies, I was getting stares for having a kid attached to my body who was squealing with excitement at the Minnie in her hands. It was a fun shopping trip!
Painted toenails
I waited 7 months but finally broke down and painted the girls' toenails! It was not easy since they move so much but I got some polish on each toe so I'll call it a success.
Ella's toes
Swing set
Since the babies (well, Emily and Tripp) loved swinging at the park, Mark decided to build them their very own swing set in our backyard. It had to be very strong and sturdy for his babies. I love the end result and I trust that it will hold our little ones for a very long time!
Then everyone got to swing! I am so excited that we now have entertainment in our backyard and don't have to leave the house to play and have fun outside!
