6 weeks!

We took the babies to the doctor for their 6 week check ups this week.  They are doing so great and growing just like they're supposed to!

Emily

Emily weighs 8 pounds 7 ounces and is 20 inches long.  She is still the smallest, but she's still doing fine on the growth charts.  Her new formula started working and we had a very happy Emily for about 2 days and then realized she had a very bad diaper rash.  The new formula makes her poop more often and we didn't know that the poop was kind of acidic, so it got pretty bad.  We had to stop using wipes when we changed her diaper.  We used really soft, damp paper towels and then put aquaphor on her butt every time we changed her.  We also used cloth diapers (even though they're still kind of big on her) during the day and twice a day we would lay her on a water proof pad totally naked to let it air out.  She really liked being naked!  It is finally healed a week later and although she is still kind of fussy, she's doing a lot better!  I don't have as many pictures of her this time because she's been so miserable so we've mostly just been cuddling her and not taking pictures!  She has been smiling the last few days so I have a few!

I took her to get a hip ultrasound this week since she was breech. They need to make sure that her hip socket is deep enough and won't cause problems as she grows.  The pediatrician says it looks great, but she has to have the ultrasound just to be sure.  This is her before we left for the ultrasound.  Her head is finally big enough for headbands!  It was very exciting!

Ella

Ella is 9 pounds 2 ounces and 20 inches long.  She is still the funniest little baby!  When she's awake I sit on the sofa with my kness bent up and rest her on my legs so that we are face to face and just watch her hilarious expressions!  Here are a few:

Tripp

Tripp is 9 pounds 6 ounces and 20.5 inches long.  He is still the biggest!  He isn't as calm as he used to be but he is still a really good baby!  He has been kind of fussy lately but nothing out of the ordinary for a baby.  He just likes to be held and gets hungry sooner than the girls, so he wakes up fussy.  He is so sweet and is starting to smile more and more. Here's my little man sleeping peacefully!

 And here are more pictures!

When Mark dresses the babies, he tucks their pants into their socks.  He says it keeps their socks on.  It does keep them on, but then they look like this...

We put the girls in matching outfits that we got from my friend Samantha and her daughter Emma!

Their Halloween outfits

Halloween pajamas and pumpkin hats that their Nonna made them.

When Emily was fussy last week and had to be held all day,  Mark improvised.  He was able to work from home and keep Emily from screaming!

The nights were getting really hard because Mark wasn't getting much sleep.  We have someone sleep over every night to stay in the living room with the babies so we can get sleep.  I'm exhausted by the end of the day and can't hear them from my room when they grunt (which is all night long), but Mark would wake up a lot at night.  We alternate waking up to help the extra person feed the babies, but he just wasn't getting much sleep, so I ordered a DVD that I read helps babies sleep better and longer.  It's called Happiest Baby on the Block.  I've tried the techniques on all of the babies and it works!  They stop crying and go right to sleep.  The last 2 nights we've swaddled them with their arms tightly wrapped like the doctor on the video suggests, and they've done a lot better.  They went 4 hours between feedings and Mark seems to be sleeping better!  Right after I watched the DVD I tried it on all 3 babies and they went straight to sleep.  Since they weren't flailing around in their sleep like they normally do, I put them all next to each other and they seemed to like it.  Tripp and Emily were really close and Ella did her own thing like always.  I want to start putting them all in the same crib soon to see how they do at night.  Hopefully their arms being swaddled will keep them still and they will be fine all together.  I read while I was pregnant that you should keep multiples together at night because they like being close to each other since they were so close in the womb, so I want to get them back together!

This is me doing what the video said to get Tripp to calm down and go to sleep.  It works!

This is him after I was done.  Totally passed out!

This is Ella swaddled with her feet out in the swing, another thing the doctor on the video suggested.  It was funny looking!

One evening Tripp and Emily were sleeping and Ella wasn't, so we propped her up on the sofa and Mark sat there and had a conversation with her.  It was adorable!
