I am currenly 16 weeks, 6 days pregnant with triplets! We had our first ultrasound on March 12 and it was quite an experience. I stopped breathing for a few seconds, and Mark turned pale and almost passed out right there! It was the first time in the 5 years that I've known him that he was completely speechless! The doctor said that there was a less than 1% chance of me conceiving triplets, and it happened! So we're just going to take it day by day with these 3 little blessings and then go from there. I someday want to look back at this and remember what each baby was like before they were born, so I'm going to do a quick little recap of each one so far.
Baby A:
A is on the bottom. I've thought from the first time I saw her (she looked like a grain of rice) that she had to be a girl! I have no idea why, but I was right! She kept us in suspense the longest, but at our 16 week ultrasound, it was confirmed that she is a girl! Mark has picked the name Emily for A, and I've picked the middle name Michelle. She's the calmest of the 3. For a while I was calling her "little A." She seemed so smushed down at the bottom and her sac was so tiny. She's caught up in size now! She has to, since her brother is already bullying her in the womb. That brings us to...
Baby B:
B has been a boy in my opinion from the beginning. At our 7 week ultrasound, B was moving around, which was weird since they didn't even look like babies yet. But he would move up and down in his little sac. His pictures at that ultrasound were all blurry because he wouldn't keep still. I started joking with Mark at this point that B looked just like him! At our 12 week ultrasound, the woman told us that it might be too early, but she thought B was a boy. We didn't start buying anything blue, but we were excited! At that point, they were already kicking their legs and moving quite a bit and we got to see B headbutting A the whole time the ultrasound was going on. Then at 14 weeks, the doctor told us that B is in fact a boy! He will be named Mark Christopher Beyer III. At our 16 week ultrasound, he was kicking A in the head the whole time. It was very sad, but I'm sure she'll start fighting back eventually. Here's a side by side of Mark and baby Mark, I think they look exactly the same! lol
Baby C:
C has been the biggest from the very beginning. I thought C was a boy because surely my daughter wasn't THAT big. A and B are really close together, and then C takes up pretty much the whole left side. There was a time when my belly was actually lopsided because the left side was so big! She looks very comfortable over there on her own. At 14 weeks, we found out that C is a girl, and then it was confirmed at our 16 week ultrasound. C will be named after my great grandmother, Ella Ruth.
And this is all 3 babies at 16 weeks (Emily is on the top, baby Mark is in the middle, and Ella is on the bottom)
This was me at 15 weeks. We have a picture at 16 weeks, but I don't know where it is.
Everyone keeps asking me how I'm doing, so here ya go:
I'm feeling pretty good considering the fact that I'm carrying 3 babies! Mostly I'm always tired. We met with a nurse practitioner on Tuesday and she said that a lot of times it feels like you've been doing physical exercise all day long, and that's exactly how I feel! I figure, the physical exercise will be worth it when these babies are born strong and healthy! Next week I'll start working 4 hour days instead of 8. Hopefully this will help! I'm not getting sick as often anymore, so that's a relief. Other than that, I think it's just normal pregnancy side effects. I try not to complain too much because after all that we went through, I'm just thankful to be pregnant at all!
We decided to go with neutral colors for the nursery, so I picked gray and white. I showed Mark a picture on Pinterest of this nursery with 2 chevron stripes across the whole room and he decided he was going to do it! He bought the paint and got to work. Of course, with Mark, it wasn't as simple as putting some tape on the walls and then painting, it had to be perfect for his babies! He needed the lines to be totally straight, so he drew out grids on the walls and then hand painted the stripes on with a sponge brush! The nursery looks perfect so far! He's already an amazing dad!!!
This is a weird panoramic one. Our ceilings are not circular like they look here, but you can see 3 of the walls!
Mark Sr. and Berna brought over all 3 cribs this week so as soon as the carpets are shampooed, they'll be set up. Then each crib will have either pink or blue accents. It's a little early, but we won't have a full 40 weeks to plan, so we're getting it done now!
